Did somebody see where my topic went? Hmmm
Ah yes, the zoo. [wink wink] The zoo was entertaining for all three of us. It was Little J's first zoo trip. Well, the first where he knew what was going on around him. He stayed in the stroller for more than half of it and he did really really well. He'd ask to get out from time to time and of course do his Dash impression. Sigh... That child is FAST! Luckily the zoo is pretty small and set up in a simple circle so there wasn't much chance of loosing him. And of course, that is always a good thing. When I would ask what animal he wanted to see most, Little J always would answer "the lion [rooooooar]". But when it came down to it? He really took interest and stood forever in front of the meerkats. So cute!

Sweebea was doing her own Dash impression. Unlike her brother, she wasn't playing chase games with whoever she thought Might join in, she was just purely excited! Since she can read now, she would stop at all the signs and see what was coming up ahead. She would then turn and tell me in a high pitched elated voice "Look! Lemer Island ahead!!" The trip was a bit tough on her as she didn't have a little friend to play with. She really needs that constant childlike activity and mommy and little brother just don't cut it. MrA was there, and usually that is fine. They are buds when no other kiddos are around. But throw in a boy or an active girl (mild girls bore her) and the two don't really play much. Today he invited a friend. She told me on the way up that she was sad because he brought Mathew and they will want to do boy things. I'm not really sure what 'boy things' happen at the zoo that girls can't be a part of but it broke my heart none the less. She locked on to another little boy who is three and a half. She decided at some point that he was her best friend. Guess it made her feel better. The two of them did have fun running from exhibit to exhibit together.
Mommy got to get some exercise, some sun, and to chat with her BF! Yea!!

Interjecting here with my favorite story of the day. We were all in front of the elephants... well, the one elephant... trying to get him to turn around. He was eating and probably utterly annoyed at the humans behind him hollering out with their strange version of "elephant-calls". At this moment, my beautiful boy says
"awwwww mommeeeeee."
"what's wrong J?"
"Mommy his tail is brooooookennnnn" [sad face]

I took a ton of pictures of animals. Why? I don't know. I knew I'd never really look at them again. My favorite is a bird in a bowl of fish. Yes. He's in a bowl of fish and it tickled me pink. Who knows why it just did.

Second was an adorable mini monkey who wanted the chips BF's daughter had in her hand.

And to top it all off? Got out of there only $13 poorer! All in all I'd say it was a great trip. We'll have to head back soon with Daddy!

What a perfect day it was! I feel so bad about Miss A playing second fiddle to Matt. :( It's interesting to see how the dynamics of their relationship change as they get older...before you know it their attention will be changing BACK to the opposite sex and then we'll be in deep trouble!
